One of the big releases for 2010 is the new Iron Man movie and come May 7th when it hits theaters AMC has a kool promotion where you can “Spend A Night With Iron Man” by catching the first release and then after that at midnight you can catch Iron Man 2 and if the theater has the option you can go IMAX!

How sweet is that deal?  I know myself I a cannot wait to see this movie.  The trailers have only gotten my geek senses tingling and if the 2nd one is as good as the first it will be a night of non stop geek out action.

Wanna know if and where it is happening in your area?  Check Here

How about a little trailer action (but i know you have already watched this like a crap ton already if you are like me)

This past week I got a chance to check out the new AMC Theater in downtown Kansas City called “AMC Mainstreet“.

Now AMC Mainstreet is not your typical new theater setup in the suburbs of a major city. This is a building that opened in downtown KC in October 1921 as a vaudeville and movie house bringing it a rich history that adds to the movie experience when you walk around the complex. One of the kool parts of the tour was getting to see part of the original 3200 seat amphitheater still intact! very kool!

Now what about what you will find today? what are some of the features of the remodeled theatre?

* Cinema Suites – The ultimate in luxury moviegoing at an affordable price, featuring Seat-Side Service™, with special amenities like plush reclining seats and a custom menu of favorites from The Marquee Bar & Grill.
* Self-serve drinks with flavor shots and popcorn seasoning station to give your concessions an extra kick.
* Reserved seating in all auditoriums.
* Grab a warm cappuccino, latte or cup of joe at the Coffee Café.
* Sit back and relax with a cold beer or glass of wine while you enjoy your movie.
* Digital Projection and 11-channel surround sound puts you in the feature.

With all the great history of the theater as well as the food options of a bar and grill right there my awesome moment was the cinema suites…Now you may have been to the cinema suites at Olathe 30 but the added features at Mainstreet really took movie watching to the next level.

The Fortress Of Solitude AMC Main St 6

You have a bigger screen, you have extra speakers including ones in the ceiling raining sound down on you from above, as well as the butt kicker under each seat which brings the feeling of that huge explosion right to your chair! It was so much awesome sauce!

Here is a little video I took of the tour we took

So when can you check out all the great things going on with the new AMC theater downtown? Opening day is May 1st and it is located at the corner of 14th and Main, in the Power and Light District.

So this past Saturday I had the opportunity along with my buddy JJ aka vivid13 to be part of an awesome event called the “Best Picture Showcase” put on by AMC.

Basically the concept is all 5 movies nominated for best picture for this years Oscars shown in 1 day, add unlimited popcorn, tons of movie geeks and you have an awesome event on your hands.

I did a little recap video with some input from others who attended so check that out below:

As I mentioned in the video I had an awesome time at the event, AMC put on one heck of a movie marathon and I cannot wait until next year to do it all again!

For some extra coverage of the “Best Picture Showcase” check out all the tweets tagged #amcbps from all over the country, as well as my fellow kc geek shane with his blog post running down the showcase and movies as well as his flickr pics of the event.

So did you go to the event in your city? What was your experience? Maybe you didnt but you saw the movies…what was your favorite? Let me know.

Well today is the day for the AMC “Best Picture Showcase”. 13 plus hours of fun, unlimited popcorn and 5 movies nominated for best picture this year at the Oscars.

You can follow my day at the event on my twitter, brightkite, friendfeed, and facebook streams. Gotta love social media!

Let the fun begin now! (first stop Chick-Fil-A for breakfast)

Besides promoting the event I plan to live blog while I am there (no shocker there huh?), as well as what I thought of the movies or which was my favorite. Should be a good time!

So you say you are interested in attending the event? Then head on over to the AMC website and see if there is a theater in your area participating in the showcase and then purchase the tickets online.

Now onto some details for the event:

* Slumdog Millionaire 7:15 p.m.

Last week I got a great opportunity to check out AMC Theatres new attraction called “Fork and Screen” which steps up what you would normally consider a night at the movies.

It not only adds a menu to your visit to your next feature film but also adds some extra features like reclining chairs, swivel tables, eye candy while walking the halls, and a full bar to enjoy during your stay.

I must say AMC has done an awesome job enhancing the movie watching experience while not really adding a lot of extra expense. The new non suite theaters are actually the same price as a normal ticket and you get an upgraded experience from what we have been use to over the years and for just 10 bucks more you get the really kool theater with the 2 person cinema suite for the ultimate in relaxation.

I took a few videos while I was there and thought I would share them with ya……

First is as you enter the “Fork and Screen” experience (you must be at least 18 or have an adult with you to enter)

Next we have a preview of the AMC Cinema Suites with the really kool chairs….

If you get a chance to check out the services go for it….Allison and I had a great time and we wanted to thank AMC for getting the chance to check it out.

The other night I decided I should go ahead and purchase my ticket for the the Batman movie “Dark Knight” which will have a midnight showing next week which I will be attending at the AMC 30 here in Olathe,KS.

Thats when I thought you know what would be kool is find out if anyone else is gonna be there who might follow me on twitter, my blog, or the other handful of services I am on these days and do a little meetup…maybe there will be a bunch of people or maybe there will only be a few but in any case it would be great to meet everyone and what better time then at a geeky event like the premiere of “Dark Knight”.

So my question to everyone out there….will you be at the midnight showing (and of course at the Olathe 30) and would you be interested in a little meetup?  Let me know.
